The Chinese submarine breaks a record in diving the deepest known point on the sea

The Chinese manned submarine “Fendouzhe” dived to a depth of 10909 meters in the Mariana Trench in the Pacific Ocean, setting a record for deep manned diving in China.

The submarine reached this depth at “Challenger Deep”, which is the deepest known point on the planet, and it is located in the Mariana Trench in the Pacific Ocean, and its depth ranges from 10.898 meters to 10.916 meters.

The water pressure at the bottom of the Mariana Trench reaches 110 MPa, which is equivalent to crushing the back of a man under the feet of 2,000 African elephants, according to the Chinese People’s Daily.

This 10,000-meter manned submersible project was launched in 2016 by scientists who previously developed manned submersibles Jiaolong and Shenhai Yongshi (Deep Sea Warrior).

According to media reports, the new submersible is expected to dive in the Mariana Trench after the final experiments in Wuxi.
