Japan: Earthquake Hits Fukushima with an initial magnitude of 7.1


Japan’s Broadcasting Corporation reported Saturday evening that an earthquake hit Fukushima with an initial magnitude of 7.1.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said the earthquake had an initial magnitude of 7.1 and occurred off the coast of eastern Japan.

The epicenter of the earthquake was off the coast of Fukushima district, at a depth of 60 km, the agency added.

The quake struck at 11.08 pm local time (14.08 GMT) and shook buildings in Tokyo.
